West Side Water & Sewer Improvements Project Contract 1 - Water Line Improvements

Contract 1 - Water Line Improvements includes furnishing and installing all piping, hydrants, valves, bores, pavement restoration, site work, accessories and appurtenances required for fully operational water line extensions as described in the specifications and as shown on the contract drawings, including but not limited to replacement of approximately 3,800 LF of 12" and smaller water line, service meters, and related improvements. A Deductive Bid Item is being considered for the price reduction offered for awarding both Contracts 1 & 2. The City reserves the right to reject any or all proposals. All questions about the meaning or intent of the Contract documents shall be submitted (in writing) to the Project Engineer, 119 North Main Street, Galax, VA 24333, Attn: Kevin Heath, P.E. Replies will be issued by Addenda, mailed or delivered to all parties recorded by the City as having received the Bidding Documents. Questions received less than five (5) days prior to the date for opening of Bids will not be answered. Only questions answered by formal written addenda will be binding. Oral and other interpretations or clarifications will be without legal effect. Each bid must be accompanied by a bid security which shall not be less than five percent (5%) of the bid amount. The required security must be in the form of cash, a certified or bank cashier's check on some bank or trust company insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation made payable to the City, or a Bid Bond issued by a surety licensed to conduct business in the State where the project is located A separate performance bond and payment bond each in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract price will be required. A Performance and Indemnity Bond (North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) –Highway Encroachment Installation) shall be executed by the Contractor. Carriers must be authorized to do business in North Carolina. The City reserves the right to reject any proposal for failure to comply with all requirements of the Notice or of any of the Contract Documents; however, it may waive any minor defects or informalities at its discretion. The City further reserves the right to reject any and all proposals or to award the Contract which in its judgment is in the best interest of the City By Order of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Mount Airy, North Carolina.
