Description | This project is for the design and implementation of a Behavioral Energy Conservation (BEC) Living Lab on campus for the Park-Stradley Residence Hall. Park Stradley is an eleven-story residence hall on south campus with student rooms on floors two through eleven. With the use of smart meters, this project will meter individual residence rooms in the building, allowing researchers at the University to gather data. The data can inform how emissions reduction can be achieved using behavioral interventions and will provide a unique resource for faculty, staff and students at the University. The permanent nature of the BEC Lab would support the ability of researchers to design longitudinal studies making sequential advances in promoting a culture of energy conservation among the Ohio State University students. The focus is on metering consumption due to lighting and electrical receptacle loads, and not HVAC, since residents do not have control over their thermostats, and thus cannot control the associated energy consumption of their room HVAC system. |
