Description | The City of Fontana ("City") is accepting proposals from qualified Geotechnical firms to serve as the Owner's Geotechnical Engineer of Record ("GEOR") to prepare geotechnical and soils investigation, as well as perform site and laboratory materials sampling and testing ("Work"), for a proposed design-build parking structure. The proposed project is called the Downtown Parking Structure Project ("Project") and is being designed pursuant to California Public Contract Code section 22160 et seq. All work associated with this project shall conform to the City's standard plans, Greenbook specifications including any amendments made by the City, and any other building codes or regulations applicable to this project. The proposed Project is to be constructed within the existing parking lot of the City's Human Resources Department Building located at 8491 Sierra Avenue, Fontana, CA 92335 (Reference Exhibit "A" Vicinity Map), and shall consist of a 4-tier parking structure. Each tier will have a footprint of approximately 130 feet by 230 feet with one vehicle entrance and exit at a location not yet determined. The City anticipates 330 - 350 parking spaces and one elevator. The intent of the structure is to serve as both public and employee parking for the civic campus as well as the planned downtown area which is to be revitalized. The Work will be awarded in two phases. Phase I will include all effort required to prepare the geotechnical and soils investigation, and phase II will include geotechnical engineer of record ('GEOR'), site and laboratory testing of soil, placement of asphaltic paving materials, onsite construction observation, inspection and testing services during rough and fine grading activities, observation of reinforcing steel placement, observation of concrete placement where required by the design and/or CBC, concrete mix design review, observation of concrete masonry placement including grout and mortar sampling where required by the design or CBC, observation of Post-tension ('PT') tendon placement, observation of PT tendon stressing, PT tendon testing, observation of embedments, observation of bolt installation, bolt testing required by design and/or CBC, observation of field welding and nondestructive testing of welding, and a summary report.
