Description

Requirement for two pedestrian breezeways at its Research Triangle Park (RTP) Campus to be stripped, cleaned, repaired and re-surfaced in order to address weathering and degradation of the existing surfaces. The estimated area of work is approximately 2,500 square feet of walkway, along with 60 canopy support columns and bases. The repair work also requires sealing of a shear crack in a cross cap and transverse cracks in underside support columns at one of the breezeways. The breezeways have an existing coating that will need to be removed as part of the work. The end objective is to: A. Re-establish an even grade non-ponding, clean, repaired and re-finished non-slip surface for the three breezeways, and B. Remove column grout bases and clean, repair (or replace), resurface and refinish the support column base plates, anchor bolts and nuts. The project scope includes all horizontal breezeway concrete surfaces (including those alongside vestibules), canopy columns and bases, and breezeway exterior sidewall where the breezeway is on grade (Breezeway #2 – South Parking Garage to Building D). All coatings shall terminate at the face edges of concrete breezeways with straight, flush lines at interfaces, for an even finish. The scope of work does not include the vertical fall protection walls on Breezeways
