Description

This project consists of, but is not limited to: All work shall be perform as shown on the Drawings or as specified herein. All work shall be completely coordinated with the work of all trades and shall provide for a complete and fully functional installation in all respects. Drawings and Specifications shall be taken together; provide as though mentioned in both, work specified and not shown, or work shown and not specified. Although such work is not specifically shown or specified, provide as part of this work, all supplementary or miscellaneous items, appurtenances, devices, or materials incidental to or necessary for a sound, secure and complete installation. The contractor shall provide all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to satisfactorily complete the Vermont State House Masonry Restoration of the East Elevation. The work consists of, but not limited to repointing of approximately 2,600 SF of granite masonry. The contractor shall be responsible for replacing and reconstructing in-kind, the existing granite historic door jambs and the (2) adjacent sidelight panels at the east entry, and the reconstruction/restoration of the existing historic granite entry steps. The work shall also provide new structural support for the entry and the reconstructed steps. The entry steps and adjoining sidewalk shall be constructed with a new snow- melt system. The contractor shall carry as part of their base bid the cost for asbestos abatement for subcontracting an area abatement contractor as approved by the State Office for Historic Preservation for the removal of all asbestos caulking as shown in attachment “A” Limited Asbestos The contractor shall also carry provide a deduct alternate from base bid includes deducting building tie-ins of existing east basement sump pump drain, existing mechanical condensation line drain tie- in, existing east basement window well drain tie-in, east wing and north facade roof leader drains and foundation drain(s) tie-in. The deduct also includes removing the proposed storm water catch basin, and all work associated with tying into this new catch basin, including ledge removal of 100 cubic feet. The contractor shall also provide unit pricing for Ledge Removal shall be include as the cost per cubic yard for approved ledge removal, that exceeds the requirements of the Deduct Alternate for 100 cubic yard of ledge removal. Blasting of ledge shall not be allowed, minimally invasive method for removal is required. The contractor shall also include in their base bid Masonry Repair for unforeseen existing masonry damage, as required and approved by owners. The contractor shall also include in their base bid the Disposal of Contaminated Soil as prescribed in attachment “C” Soil Management Plan. For removal excavation, transport, and disposal of approximately up to 300 tons (approximately 200 cubic yards) of disposal for the prescribed contaminated material shall be based on. And the contractor shall protect the existing finishes from damage. The contractor shall be responsible for verifying existing conditions and taking care, not to destroy the historic integrity of this historic structure and its exterior finishes. Contractor shall protect all existing windows and finishes from damage. Careless damage to these finishes shall not be tolerated. Repointing shall include from the roof edge along the top of the gable parapet to 4” below ground level as shown in the construction document, adjacent windows, granite windowsill, jambs, pediment/ headers and all eave detailing on the East Facade shall be included in this scope of work. Preserve and protect the existing walls finishes during work. The contractor shall conserve all intact finishes and protect these surfaces from damage through the work process. They shall verify that all existing exterior masonry is stable prior to repointing. Repointing and clean washing of all masonry restoration work is required on all work surfaces. Lime-putty restorative mortar shall be used to match existing mortar color and joint detailing on the North Elevation at the back of the 1858 State House. The emergency egress access shall be kept clear from the north entry through the parking area, available during the project. Daily clean-up shall be required before leaving site.
