Description | The participation goals for this project shall be 15.3% for minorities and 6.9% for women. The Middleton Housing Authority, the Awarding Authority, invites sealed bids from Electrical Contractors for the Upgrade Fire Alarm System project at Orchard Circle, 667-1 Development for the Middleton Housing Authority in Middleton Massachusetts, in accordance with the documents prepared by Nangle Engineering Incorporated. Bid Forms and Contract Documents will be available at portal The Project consists of: Upgrade of the existing hybrid fire alarm system, at the Orchard Circle Development, to a full addressable fire alarm system, including replacement control equipment, peripheral devices, underground wiring, asbestos abatement, and limited excavation for new underground conduits. The work is estimated to cost $219,000.00 Bids are subject to M.G.L. c.149 44A-J & to minimum wage rates as required by M.G.L. c.14926 to 27H inclusive. General bidders must be certified by the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM) in the category of Electrical or Alarm Systems. General bids and sub-bids shall be accompanied by a bid deposit that is not less than five (5%) of the greatest possible bid amount (considering all alternates), and made payable to the Middleton Housing Authority.Otherwise the deposit shall be the property of the Awarding Authority. Additional sets may be purchased online at portal CDROMs are available upon request. Bidders requesting Contract Documents to be mailed to them shall include a separate check for $35.00 per set, payable to portal to cover mail handling costs. General bidders must agree to contract with minority and women business enterprises as certified by the Supplier Diversity Office (SDO), formerly known as SOMWBA. The combined participation benchmark reserved for such enterprises shall not be less than 13.0% of the final contract price including accepted alternates. Request for waivers must be sent to DHCD (david.mcclave@mass.gov) 5 calendar days prior to the General Bid date if the work is estimated to cost less than $500,000 OR 10 calendar days prior to the General Bid date if the work is estimated to cost $500,000 or more - NO WAIVERS WILL BE GRANTED AFTER THE BID DATE. See Contract Documents - Article 3 of the Instructions to Bidders. The inspection is an opportunity to visit and observe the site only. Any oral interpretations offered at the site inspection are non-binding. Any questions must be submitted in writing to the Designer, at the e-mail address on the Project Manual cover, no later than 4:00 PM on the Friday prior to the date stated above for the receipt of bids. Questions after that time may not be responded to, at the sole discretion of the designer. |
