Description

San Antonio's SWBC Real Estate is planning a new multi-family development on the West Side. The development, dubbed The Royalton at Westover Hills, will be a 365-unit Class-A property. It is being built on about 14 acres on the northeast quadrant of Highway 151 and Loop 1604. The project, which is the first in a portfolio of multifamily assets for investors who participated in the SWBC Real Estate Fund I, is being billed as an option for affordable housing in the Westover Hills area. While rates have not yet been determined, a spokesperson for SWBC claimed that they would be "market rates". Allen-based Cross Architects is designing the project. Construction is set to begin in Q1 2023, with a proposed completion time of 26 months. The property is adjacent to a new Methodist Healthcare development, which includes a hospital and multibuilding campus, and which is projected to create 280 new jobs once completed. The Royalton will feature three-story stucco-and-brick veneer apartments, with an average apartment size of 875 square feet and 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom unit options. Amenities include a fitness center, dog park, and garage and yard space, among others.
