Description

The undersigned hereby proposes to furnish to the Board of Water Works Trustees of the Des Moines Water Works, the estimated requirement of ground aluminum sulfate of approximately 1,080,864 pounds for the year 2023. This aluminum sulfate will be used in the purification and softening of the municipal water supply. The undersigned hereby states this product meets or exceeds the latest revision of AWWA Standard 403-93 for aluminum sulfate. DMWW reserves the right to conduct any test/inspection it may deem advisable to assure goods and services conform to the specifications. Approximately 1,080,864 pounds will be delivered to: Fleur Drive Treatment Plant 408 Fleur Drive Des Moines, IA 50321-1190 Trucks delivering to Fleur Drive will be weighed before and after product is delivered. Suppliers shall provide their quote F.O.B. point of destination as listed above. The price quotation shall be a firm price per pound of the delivered product. Deliveries will be specified to the supplier on an as needed basis. Deliveries shall be made in approximately 50,000 pound shipments by pneumatic truck delivery. Unloading may take up to 3 hours per load. Des Moines Water Works will not pay any demurrage fees unless it takes longer than 3 hours to unload the truck, and is the result of equipment failure of Des Moines Water Works owned equipment, and not the freight line delivering the product. If it is agreed upon at the time of delivery by Des Moines Water Works, the demurrage ticket must be signed by a supervisor of Water Production. All cargo trailers and valves used for the delivery of product shall be in good mechanical order and shall be in full compliance of the applicable requirements of the Hazardous Materials Regulations of the Department of Transportation. All valves, pumps, and discharge hoses used for the delivery shall be clean and free from contaminating material. If off loading equipment is not properly cleaned, this will constitute a reason for rejection of the load. All trailer ports used for the loading or delivery of product shall be secured with appropriate tamper-proof security seal verifying the shipment has not been breached in transit. If seals are not intact at time of delivery, this will constitute a reason for rejection of the load. The driver shall wear the appropriate personal protective equipment as required by the SDS when unloading product. All discharge connections and hose ends shall be plugged, capped, blind flanged, or contained to prevent and spillage of product. The driver is responsible for cleanup of incidental spills to the satisfaction of DMWW. The estimated quantities specified are given for informational purposes only. The amounts will vary with the actual demand. These quantities shall not be deemed to guarantee either a minimum amount or restrict the maximum amount to be furnished. Des Moines Water Works will provide preliminary bid results to those vendors that supply and e-mail address. The results are preliminary until reviewed by Water Production, Purchasing and then approved at the next board meeting. Due to the amount of chemical bids we open at one time, we cannot respond to all vendors verbally within the following days of the bid opening.
