Description | As of August 5, 2022, this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for award has not yet been established. The Burke County Community Development Department is soliciting bids from qualified contractors for the demolition and removal of one (1) single-family home at 7901 Houston Ave., Hickory, NC 28602. Project Overview: The Burke County Board of Commissioners have approved the demolition of a single-family home located at the address above. The work will consist of demolish the fire damaged home and remove any and all debris from said structure remaining on the parcel. After removal, any area disturbed during the removal must be leveled, compacted, and/or filled as needed to restore the site to a stable condition. All open areas of dirt must be seeded and mulched, or revegetated in an equivalent manner. General Work Specifications and Standards In removing and disposing of the structure and debris, Contractor must: o Deconstruct the home in a manner that will prevent any debris from becoming airborne or otherwise affecting any adjacent properties. o Remove any and all mercury thermostats or other recyclables to be disposed of in an appropriate manner. o Debris from the deconstructed home shall be transported on a vehicle capable of safely moving the materials from the demolition site to a certified landfill or recycling facility. o During transportation, all debris must be covered with a tarp or fabric cover and shall be properly secured so not to allow any debris to fall from the vehicle. o Remove and replace any contaminated soil that results from the spillage of any fluids or hazardous materials from equipment associated with performing deconstruction or removal of the structure. o Take measures during the demolition and removal so as not to cause any unnecessary damage to the property or any easements to or from the site o Notify Burke County Community Development Department if any damage occurs to the property during removal, before leaving the property o Dispose of all waste in accordance with Federal, State, and Local laws o Contractor seed mix or equivalent is acceptable for stabilization. Lespedeza is not acceptable on this project. o Disposals fees at the landfill are set by The Burke County General Services Department and cannot be waived o Utilities will be disconnected by Burke County o The demolition permit will be pulled by Burke County |
