R10 Alaska Thinning Project

Currently the government anticipates having the below listed work/quantities per forests. These quantities include the totals of all tasks listed in the PWS. Chugach National Forest: approximately 1,000 acres per year for up to 5 years. Tongass National Forest: approximately 7,000 acres per year for up to 5 years. This is a Thinning and Fuels Management services requirement. Best Management Practices for the Tongass and Chugach National Forest include forest treatment prescriptions including precommercial thinning, cut and no cutcorridors, girdling, pruning and slash treatment. Incidental services include brushing access into work areas. In addition, the Chugach National Forest requires removal of trees to control insects or disease, including removal of infested/infected trees and adjacent live uninfested/uninfected trees; hazard tree removal; hazardous fuels treatments; stand improvement treatments.
